Theatre Museum

Collections

The Theatre Museum’s Artefact Collections and Archives foster nationally significant materials on performing arts, with oldest exhibits dating back to 1830s. The Museum’s Collections focus primarily on professional theatre, dance, opera, circus and live art and performance in Finland. The Collections serve the Museum’s functions, the wider public, and research of the specialised field. The Information Service responds to all enquiries and questions regarding the Collections. The Theatre Museum’s acquisitions are guided by its Recording Plan and Collections Policy.

Artefact Collections

The Theatre Museum’s Artefact Collections include a plethora of theatre, dance and opera costumes, stage models, and costume and scenery sketches.

Archives

The Theatre Museums Archives primarily focus on materials related to professional theatre and dance in Finland. In addition, the collections include some archival materials

Information and Photo Services

The Theatre Museum’s Information Service welcomes enquiries on the Museum's own materials as well as questions on theatre in general.

Donations

The Theatre Museum Archive accepts donations from theatres, dance groups, organisations from the theatre and dance field, and from private individuals.
