Practical information for groups
Before the visit
To book a workshop please call +358 (0)40 1922 320 (Tuesdays and Fridays at 10–12, Wednesdays at 14–16, or leave a message in the voicemail) or send a message at varaukset @ teatterimuseo.fi.
NB: check possible exceptions to the booking service here.
The workshop fee will be paid at the ticket office in the lobby. The most affordable option is to pay in cash or with a debit or credit card, as an additional 7 € will be charged to an invoice. Please send your invoicing details at varaukset @ teatterimuseo.fi. If you need an attachment (such as the order form of your municipality) to your invoice, please send it to the above mentioned address or leave it with the receptionist upon arrival.
The prices for the workshops can be found on each workshop page. Theatre Museum is not liable to pay VAT.
For bookings and cancellations, a minimum of one week’s notice is required. Sessions cancelled within one week of the visit will be liable to 50 % charge. If no prior notification will be given, we will charge the full amount and invoice the email address given for the booking. An additional 7€ invoicing fee will be charged.
The Theatre Museum can be reached through the staircase G at the far end of the Cable Factory building. There is a ramp in front of the stairs, that leads to the shared lobby of the three Cable Factory Museums. (More detailed directions here.)
There are toilets, coat racks and key-operated storage lockers in the lobby. There is also a small loft where you can enjoy a snack before or after a workshop.
On punctuality: Please make sure you arrive in good time as it is vital that the workshops start on schedule. Allow some time to pop into the restrooms, settle down and focus. The workshop facilitator will pick up the group from the lobby and take them to the Theatre Museum on the 1st floor on a lift.
After the visit
Your facilitator will escort the group back to the elevator after the workshop or tour. We would love to hear about your experience and welcome all feedback either on the feedback form found in the lobby, by filling out the e-form on our website, or by sending us email.
We have limited the workshop group sizes with your benefit in mind. Some of the workshops can accommodate up to 15 participants only, due to the intensive nature of the workshops where all participants engage actively. In a smaller group, the facilitator is able to coach all participants individually and everyone will have enough room and freedom to experiment.
As many classes and groups surpass the limit of 15 participants, we have designed other options for larger groups:
A larger group can be divided into 2 to 4 simultaneous workshops with different content by utilising the various spaces and experimentation stands at the Museum.
E.g. class of 30 students split into 2 groups:
The first group spends an hour at the Theatre Adventure workshop, the second group at the Crouched Rice workshop, then they switch. This way both groups get the chance to visit the exhibitions and experiment stands, to prepare their own performances, plunge into the costume collection and throw themselves into improvisational theatre, team building, and working together. Price for visit 4 x 1 h rate.
It is possible to book a 1-hour Theatrical Game alongside a workshop at the price of 30 €. The other half of the class goes on with the Theatre Adventure and the other one with the Theatrical Game, and then switch. Please contact us to design the best combination for your group! (Theatrical Game only available as a complementing element to a workshop.)
If the ready-made workshops don’t quite match your needs, we will be happy to tailor your visit to meet the wishes and needs of your group. Workshops can be extended in length, different workshop and exhibition contents can be mixed together, or adapted to accommodate your own theme. A workshop can be designed to complement a larger educational unit and support your theme in the best way possible. The workshops can be useful in building a performance for your Christmas or Spring celebrations.
