In regard to the challenges of documentation and preservation, dance has its own specifications and problems. These are reflected not only by companies and archives but also by contemporary artists to a degree that one could even speak of an 'archival turn', if not the concept of turns had become dated itself. The lecture will show that the problems and tendencies of this process are paradigmatic for the broader field of performing arts and theatre in particular when considered as cultural practices.
