Summer at the Cable Museums

15.06.2022

The Summer at the Cable Museums offers a total of eight exhibitions on three floors. There's enough to see for the whole day, and in between you can enjoy the delicacies of the Hima & Sali restaurant.

At the Hotel and Restaurant Museum, artist Riiko Sakkinen will make an art intervention in the museum's exhibitions from 3 June to 14 August 2022. Molotov Cocktail Happy Meal does not deal with food and drink as nourishment, but focuses on packaging as propaganda. In addition, the Taste Matters exhibition will offer perspectives on food and drink culture. The Tuesday Dinner with Drinks exhibition takes you on a taste journey back to the 1970s with colourful food photography.

The Theatre Museum's summer exhibitions invite you to discover theatre and dance. “The Audience Was Furious From Excitement!” celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Finnish National Theatre. Deep Movement leads to the international history of Finnish contemporary dance. At the Arkadia Theatre, you can first journey through theatre history and then step through the dressing room to the stage to become the star of your own unique performance.

The Finnish Museum of Photography has two exhibitions open this summer. Agnès Varda - my first life presents a visionary, humorous and sensitive photographer whose images foreshadowed her long career as a filmmaker. Paradoxes of Photography will reflect on the expectations and perceptions of photography. The exhibition is a collection of research projects that challenge the 'idea of photography'.

The cable museums are open throughout the summer on Tuesdays and from Thursdays to Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The museums are closed on Mondays. The museums will also be closed on Midsummer from 24 to 26 June. Other exceptions to opening hours should be checked on the museums' websites (Theatre Museum, Hotel and Restaurant Museum, Museum of Photography).
